Choose SitecoreAI if you run a large marketing organization with many brands and want built-in personalization, testing, governed AI agents and a SOC 2 report. Choose Jahia if you need European data sovereignty, a self-hosted option, a vendor that hosts the whole website and the freedom to bring your own AI model. Both are quote only with annual contracts, and neither sells commerce. The choice depends on whether your procurement leans on EU residency and ISO 27001 or on SOC 2 and US-style assurance.
A high-level view of how the two platforms compare across key areas.
| Area | Jahia | SitecoreAI |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery model | Jahia renders and hosts the full website on Jahia Cloud, or ships Docker images to run on your own servers. | Sitecore hosts authoring and content delivery, but you build and host the Next.js or Angular website yourself. |
| Compliance | Company-wide ISO 27001:2022 and a published GDPR agreement, but no SOC 2 report, and Cloud terms bar HIPAA data. | SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 42001, with a processing agreement covering GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and Swiss law. |
| Personalization | jExperience, built on Apache Unomi, offers rule-based segments, scoring and A/B tests inside Page Builder, without machine learning decisioning. | Bundled real-time audiences, A/B/n tests, multi-armed bandits and machine learning affinity, now extended to apps and third-party sites. |
| AI models | Eight model options, including Anthropic, EU-hosted Mistral, Azure OpenAI and self-hosted models, with approvals enforced on every AI action. | Agentic Studio with 20+ agents and an official MCP server, but AI runs on Sitecore's Azure OpenAI with little model choice. |
| Ecosystem | About 50 GitHub stars, roughly 59 G2 reviews, no public Slack or forum, and talent concentrated in French-speaking Europe. | A large partner network, Slack, an MVP program and active practitioner blogs, though certified developers remain scarce. |
| Developer model | React and TypeScript modules render inside Jahia; the Next.js SDK is unsupported and outbound webhooks need Java code. | Content SDKs for Next.js and Angular, an official SDK-free guide for any stack, and webhooks on 18 content events. |
Both are quote only. Jahia publishes a plan comparison matrix and names its pricing drivers (edition, hosting model, users and traffic), but both plans end in Get a quote and the contract keeps prices confidential. SitecoreAI publishes nothing at all. Third-party estimates put its all-in annual spend at $75K to $500K or more, metered on visits, storage, bandwidth and builder seats.
Beyond the license, the cost structures differ. Jahia Cloud includes hosting of the full website, but meters bandwidth, storage, page views and profiles and bills overages, and renewals rise with inflation. Its support policy excludes performance tuning and database health checks, so keep operations skills in house. SitecoreAI removes infrastructure work, but you pay separately to host the front end, often $25K to $100K a year, and mid-market implementations commonly run $150K to $350K with a certified partner.
Over five years, the published estimates put SitecoreAI at roughly $375K to $2.5M before implementation and hosting. Jahia's total cannot be estimated from public data. A free AI-assisted migration and a free Open-Core edition lower its entry cost, but contracts renew yearly with 90 days' notice and no termination for convenience.
Jahia is a Java content platform that renders the website itself. Jahia Cloud runs dedicated stacks on AWS or OVH with a 99.9% availability commitment and customer-triggered blue-green upgrades, and the same platform ships as Docker images for self-hosting. Front-end developers can build views as React and TypeScript modules with no local Java, scaffolded in four commands. Backend extensions and event handling still need Java skills, and changing a content type after content exists means hand-written Groovy migration scripts. Self-hosted teams carry JDK 17, Elasticsearch 9 and a database, and support excludes server administration.
SitecoreAI is Sitecore-operated SaaS with a 99.95% delivery uptime commitment. There are no upgrade projects, but Sitecore sets deadlines teams must meet: Explorer was retired on short notice, and a September 2026 base image required retesting custom code. The website is a separate Next.js or Angular app, or any stack using the October 2026 SDK-free guide, deployed to Vercel, Netlify or your own servers. Templates and SXA (Sitecore's site-building framework) need certified developers, and practitioners put a move from Sitecore XP or XM at 9 to 14 months.
SitecoreAI gives marketers more. Page builder edits the live headless site with previews by language, device, audience and future date, and Design Studio generates new components from a plain-language prompt. Personalization and testing from the former CDP and Personalize products sit in the base license, with statistical significance reporting and auto-winner selection. Site collections, shared component libraries and per-site brand kits govern dozens of brands, and Content Hub supplies asset management with AI tagging and renditions.
Jahia holds its own on multi-site and localization. One instance runs many sites with local administrators, Local Site Manager pushes global pages to regional sites, and mandatory languages can block publication until translated. jExperience delivers segments, scoring, geo-targeting and A/B tests inside Page Builder without a separate CDP, but targeting is rule-based and there is no recommendation engine. The asset library is basic, and video comes from Cloudinary, Keepeek or YouTube embeds. Jahia does serve logged-in visitors natively with social login and gated content, which SitecoreAI leaves to your front end.
SitecoreAI is the more complete AI platform. Agentic Studio offers 20+ prebuilt agents, a no-code builder and multi-step flows, and review cards make a person approve each AI change. The Marketer MCP server (Model Context Protocol, the standard AI assistants use to call tools) lets Claude, Copilot Studio or Cursor build pages and check references before deleting content. Machine learning drives audience affinity, and ISO/IEC 42001 certifies the AI management system. AI use is not billed per token, but models run on Azure OpenAI and only image tagging can use your own provider.
Jahia's strength is openness. It works with eight model options, including Anthropic, EU-hosted Mistral, Azure OpenAI and self-hosted models, and every AI action runs through the content type's approval workflow and is logged. Page Quality Audit suggests titles, meta descriptions and alt text and shows token cost per run, and a community MCP server lets agents work within user permissions. There is no semantic search and no machine learning personalization, so AI helps editors more than visitors.
These are different vendors and different architectures. Jahia renders pages from a Java content repository; SitecoreAI is headless SaaS with a customer-built front end. A move either way is a replatform: remodel content types, rebuild templates and components, and rewire integrations. Moving to SitecoreAI means building and hosting a Next.js or Angular site and rebuilding visitor login. Moving to Jahia means rewriting personalization rules for jExperience and replacing Sitecore Connect recipes with StackConnect or Java modules.
Jahia markets a free AI-agent migration that crawls a public site and rebuilds its pages, with a contractual timeline, which lowers the cost of arriving. Its Cloud terms give 60 days after termination to export data. Sitecore XP or XM customers moving to SitecoreAI keep content models, workflows and editor habits, but still rebuild the front end.
Teams that depend on self-hosting, member portals or single-tenant EU hosting should think hard before leaving Jahia. Teams that rely on machine learning personalization, a SOC 2 report or a deep partner bench should not leave SitecoreAI.

Yes. SitecoreAI is the new name for XM Cloud, Sitecore's SaaS platform, which now bundles personalization, testing, site search and AI agents under one license. It is not the same as self-hosted Sitecore XP or XM: moving from those is a replatform with a front-end rebuild, which practitioners put at 9 to 14 months.
Both offer EU hosting and GDPR processing agreements. Jahia adds single-tenant hosting on OVH France or AWS Ireland, a full self-hosted option, EU-hosted AI models and 60 days to export data after termination. SitecoreAI offers EU, US and Asia-Pacific regions with a contractual promise that data stays in region, but authoring cannot be self-hosted.
SitecoreAI is the easier fit: it holds SOC 2 Type II, SOC 1 Type II, ISO 27001:2022 and ISO/IEC 42001, and describes a HIPAA business associate path. Jahia holds company-wide ISO 27001:2022 but has no SOC 2 report, and its Cloud terms forbid HIPAA-protected data. Neither publishes an accessibility conformance report (VPAT) for its editing interface.
SitecoreAI has a broad partner network with a Diamond tier, major systems integrators, an MVP program and an active practitioner community, though certified developers are scarce. Jahia runs a Silver, Gold and Diamond program that includes Atos, Dept, Talan and ASI, but its talent pool sits mainly in French-speaking Europe and job postings are rare elsewhere.
Neither has a native cart, catalog or checkout. SitecoreAI pairs with OrderCloud, a separately licensed Sitecore commerce product with little recent investment, or third-party engines through integration recipes. Jahia lists no commerce connectors, so product data arrives through StackConnect, a Workato-based integration service, or custom code. Commerce-first retailers should plan significant integration work with either.
SitecoreAI scores higher on overall suite capability (73 vs 62). Jahia wins 1 of the 10 scoring categories and SitecoreAI wins 9.
Jahia scores higher on total cost of ownership (48 vs 40), which weighs licensing, implementation cost and running cost; a higher score means lower cost for what you get. Confirm current pricing with each vendor.
SitecoreAI scores higher on build simplicity (64 vs 55), which covers the learning curve, implementation complexity and how easy it is to hire for. SitecoreAI scores higher on operational ease (54 vs 52), which covers upgrades, day to day overhead and vendor support.
SitecoreAI scores higher on fit for marketing sites (78 vs 65), which looks at how well each platform serves campaign pages, landing pages and editor self-service.
SitecoreAI scores higher on AI enablement (78 vs 57), which covers AI content creation, workflow automation, AI search and personalization, and how open the platform is to your own AI tools.
